Afternoon-Tea picnic hampers to celebrate the Jubilee

Want to celebrate the jubilee with an award winning afternoon tea?

After being named the best place in London for Afternoon Tea by the Tea Guild, The Athenaeum is celebrating the Queens Diamond Jubilee with some Royal afternoon-tea picnic hampers.

In homage to the only other monarch who has reigned for 60 years, the tea hamper will contain a selection of traditional finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones served with Regents Park honey and homemade raspberry jam, lemon meringue and slices of Victoria Sponge cake.

The Athenaeum will be at the heart of the action for Brits celebrating the Royal Jubilee because it's just around the corner from the The Jubilee Lunch – the one of the largest street parties in London taking place on Piccadilly. Guests can order specially created afternoon tea picnic hampers to take to the party. Alternatively, guests can enjoy the tea hamper in one of the three surrounding Royal Parks.

Simon Wakefield, General Manager, says, “Mayfair will be an exciting place to be over the Jubilee weekend and we want all our guests to feel that they can be involved in the celebrations in the run up! We want our guests to remember being in London for this exciting royal occasion, and sampling our traditional afternoon tea we hope will add to the experience!”

The Tea Guild Awards are known as the Oscars of the tea world; the Athenaeum beat stiff competition from hotels like the Ritz and Claridge’s to scoop the top award.
