Treat yourself with a holiday to the Canary Islands

Treat yourself with a holiday to the Canary Islands

Whether you're looking for a romantic getaway for two, a fun-filled family holiday or a bit of time out with your best friends, Canary Island villas could be the perfect option.

Famous for their warm sandy beaches and seemingly endless sunshine, the Canary Islands offer plenty to keep visitors busy. From fine dining and sightseeing, to water sports amusement parks and an exciting nightlife, there's sure to be something for everyone.

And if you're looking for the best accommodation for your trip abroad, why not choose a luxurious villa from Premier Holidays? We offer a huge selection of properties throughout the Canary Islands, enabling you to find one that suits your specific requirements.

Introducing the Canary Islands

Also known simply as the Canaries, the Canary Islands are situated off the north-west coast of Africa.

The islands are a Spanish autonomous community, so the euro is the recognised currency and the country's official language is Spanish. However, British and Irish holidaymakers should be aware that the higher European duty-free allowance does not apply when returning home from the Canaries.

The Canary Islands boast a very stable climate. Even on the coldest days, the temperature rarely dips below 14 degrees C, while the summer heat never becomes uncomfortable.

This means that the Canaries are an ideal destination for just about any time of the year, whether you're seeking winter villa holidays to beat the December blues or a summer getaway. The Canaries are a popular destination for celebrating Christmas and the New Year in the sun because of the short flights.

Which of the Canary Islands to choose for a villa holiday?

There are seven main islands in this archipelago. While they all offer spectacular beaches and plenty of sunshine, each of the Canary Islands has its own distinctive character, with varying activities and scenery to enjoy.

As the largest of the islands, Tenerife is the most popular tourist destination in the Canaries. Every year it hosts one of the world's largest carnivals and, depending on your preferences, you can choose to stay at one of the modern resorts like Costa Adeje, or travel to more traditional towns near by.

Those who choose to stay in villas in Lanzarote will enjoy a breathtaking natural landscape, which has been formed by thousands of years of volcanic activity. Some of the smaller beaches are covered with black sand, while the caves and craters are intriguing locations to explore.

Gran Canaria is another popular destination. With a number of resorts dotted around its southern coast, a third of the island is protected as a natural reserve. Two of the busiest locations – Maspalomas and Playa del Ingles – are separated by a stretch of impressive sand dunes, which can be crossed on foot or by camel.

Fuerteventura is generally believed to be the oldest of the islands and it is the favourite choice for water sports enthusiasts, as it offers the best conditions for sailing, scuba diving, surfing and fishing.

The remaining islands – La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro are much less dependent on tourism and are often praised as being even more beautiful than their more popular neighbours. If you want a true taste of the local life of the Canaries, be sure to plan a day trip to one of these locations.

Make a Canary Islands villa your next holiday destination

Whichever of the Canaries you choose to visit, here at Premier Holidays, we make it easy for you to reserve luxurious self-catering accommodation. We take great pride in providing only the best holiday villas, easily accessible to local amenities and providing all the comforts of home.
