Practical and theory courses are available from our base at the Portsmouth Harbour Yacht Club in Port Solent – one of the world's most famous sailing areas.

You'll also find plenty of shore-based options to choose from if you want to develop a specific set of skills.

No matter what type of instruction you're looking for, our UK sailing school will be able to help – get in touch with Sunsail today to discuss your options.

What courses can I take at Sunsail's UK sailing school?

Sunsail stands out among the sailing schools in the UK for its consistently high quality of instruction. Our teachers are qualified by the Royal Yachting Association (RYA), so you can be safe in the knowledge that you're learning skills from the best in the business. Sunsail's extensive range of courses at Port Solent ensure there is something for everyone.

Newcomers to sailing will want to start at Level Zero and may wish to try a one-day taster course before you make a bigger commitment. At this level, you can also study on our Flotilla Training Course, as well as RYA Competent Crew and RYA Start Yachting training. At Level One, you can choose from a RYA day skipper course, in addition to instruction on basic navigation and safety. You can also obtain your International Certificate of Competence at this level.

As your skills progress, you'll want to move on to Levels Two and Three, where you can study the RYA day skipper practical course, as well as our tidal conversion instruction and the RYA Yachtmaster coastal preparation course and exam. We also offer shore-based RYA courses including sea survival and small craft first aid, as well as instruction in radar, offshore safety and diesel engines.

You'll even find Sunsail offers special courses for women, teenagers and families to ensure everyone can learn how to sail in a safe, supportive and enjoyable environment.
