Camping with tents and trailer tents

Camping with tents and trailer tents

When it comes to enjoying the great outdoors, there is no experience quite like camping. However, what are the various benefits of tents and trailer tents when planning a break in the open air?

Whether you choose trailer tents or traditional tents will largely be governed by exactly what you need from your holiday home, as well as your budget and travel options. Whichever you select, you'll find that each comes with a whole host of advantages.

Traditional tents are a camping staple. Made from a range of materials including canvas and polyester, there is plenty of choice available.

Indeed, this is one of the key advantages of this kind of holiday home. As well as coming in a variety of materials, they are also available in a vast array of sizes and shapes to suit all kinds of budgets. So, you can select a tent based on how many people will be sleeping in it and how much you are able to spend.

This makes them a particularly flexible option, as they can be used by single travellers, couples and large families alike. What's more, you can also take into account what kind of shape you are after when choosing your tent.

Dome tents, for example, are known for coming with high tops and are generally considered to be some of the easiest kinds to set up. Indeed, if you are particularly concerned about having difficulty in assembling your sleeping area, you can select a model that promises quick and simple construction.

Those with more experience, however, may prefer to go with more complex tents that offer additional space or other handy features.

And the versatility of tents does not end there. Wonderfully easy to transport, most examples will fit easily into a car – and, if you're planning to travel to a particular event or festival, you can select lightweight designs you can carry on your back.

Indeed, because you can carry tents, you'll also have more flexibility in terms of transport, such as travelling on trains or other vehicles.

What's more, with tents you can enjoy an authentic, traditional camping experience – something that makes them a popular choice among those who love nothing more than a holiday exploring the great outdoors.

But before you set off, make sure you have tent insurance in place. This means you need not be out of pocket should you suffer loss or damage to your tent or camping equipment.

Offering another camping option, trailer tents also boast many advantages.

These are tents that – as their name suggests – are stored in a trailer, which they then fold out from. Typically providing off-the-ground sleeping and plenty of space, these can be a great choice for travellers who want to experience nights under the stars – but with a little extra comfort.

Easy to store, trailer tents can be kept in the garden and are often simpler to manoeuvre on the roads than larger camping accommodation, such as motorhomes.

You are also likely to find these are cheaper than caravans, which may appeal to holidaymakers eager to enjoy as much convenience and comfort as possible while camping, but do not want to incur the addition expense or deal with the storage issues of caravans.

As with traditional tents, it's important to have the appropriate cover in place to protect you financially should your accommodation be damaged. So, make sure you purchase trailer tent insurance before setting off on your break.

There are plenty of policies to choose from, including motorhome insurance and caravan cover, so you can rest assured that whatever type of camping gear you use, you will be able to find a plan for you.
