You certainly won't be short of places to explore when it comes to deciding where in the South Pacific to visit; however, one place you may want to give particular consideration to is Tonga.

Sailing holidays in Tonga are ideal even if you have little or no experience of boats.

The numerous coral reefs and the islands' proximity to each other make for excellent sailing conditions, allowing you to travel over calm, crystal-clear waters.

During your holiday you can enjoy fantastic snorkelling and scuba diving, although you may want to keep an eye out to the sea to catch a glimpse of humpback whales swimming by.

Stop by Hinakauea Beach on the island of Pangiamotu and you can enjoy a Tongan feast consisting of seafood and tropical fruit before taking in some traditional singing and dancing.

Alternatively, you may want to go on sailing holidays in New Zealand. Visit the Bay of Islands – located on the east coast of the country's North Island – and you'll be able to make your way along quiet, sheltered waters. An ideal destination for a family sailing holiday, when you moor up you can take in quaint towns and experience beautiful countryside.

During your time in the region, you'll be able to see some fascinating wildlife, including dolphins and blue penguins, while there is also the opportunity to go swimming and snorkelling. You'll even get the chance to go scuba diving and explore fascinating caves and shipwrecks.

Other places in the South Pacific we run fantastic sailing holidays to include Tahiti and Australia's Whitsunday Islands, so there'll be lots of choice.

Select a luxury crewed yacht holiday and you'll be guided through the region by a professional team, complete with its own captain and chef. However, if you want to be more independent you can choose a bareback yacht charter where you travel at a pace that suits you.
