Paris is a popular festive destination

Eurostar is expecting more than 420,000 people over the festive period; an 11 per cent rise in passenger numbers compared to the same period in 2012.

More than 210,000 Brits will escape the UK for a festive break in Europe with Paris, Disneyland Paris and the French and Swiss Alps proving to be the most popular Eurostar destinations.

Friday 20th, Friday 27thand Monday 30th December are the busiest days for departures.

Passengers travelling from London St Pancras, Ashford International and Ebbsfleet International over the Christmas period will be treated to free festive activities in the Eurostar departure lounges. Father Christmas is taking time out of his busy schedule to entertain the kids from December 2st to 24th, whilst the grownups can enjoy a range of surprises including upgrades from Standard to Standard Premier class.

Nick Mercer, Commercial Director for Eurostar said: “There’s always a great atmosphere in our stations at this time of year, and this Christmas will be no exception. Our French and Swiss services have proved particularly popular this year as the British love affair with the slopes continues to snowball. For any travellers looking for a last minute getaway, there are tickets remaining for our first Swiss ski service of the season, departing this weekend.”

Eurostar travellers are able to use their Eurostar ticket to receive 2-for-1 entry into paying exhibitions at a selection of top museums and galleries in Paris, Brussels and Lille.
