Rent a car in London from Auto Europe

Rent a car in London from Auto Europe

Whether you are travelling in London for business or pleasure, having a vehicle at your disposal could make managing your time in the city much easier.

That is why you should consider arranging car hire in London before you arrive in the UK capital – and you'll be able to get a great deal if you come to Auto Europe.

We have a range of different car models and sizes for you to choose from and you can pick up your rented vehicle from one of eight different locations spread across the city.

As a result, you can collect your car and set about exploring London in next to no time. To find out more about driving in the city, read on.

Tips for driving in London

London is famous the world over for its red double-decker buses, black Hackney cabs and mammoth Tube system. However, you may prefer to see the sights without having to battle endless other commuters and passengers.

If you have decided to hire a car for the duration of your stay, there are a few things to be aware of. The first is the different zones the city is split into.

The Low Emissions Zone encompasses a vast area of the capital, including all of Greater London and parts of the M1 and M4 – and you will know you are entering it when you pass a sign informing you of this.

It was introduced to reduce pollution in the city, with owners of the most heavily polluting vehicles charged to drive in the area. To avoid this fee, you may wish to hire a car that fits LEZ emission standards, meaning only a certain amount of particulate matter comes from the exhaust.

The Congestion Charge is something else to be aware of. This applies to a large part of London, including the City of Westminster, Soho, Southwark and Newington. The charge operates between 07:00 GMT and 18:00 GMT on weekdays, but you will not have to pay a fee on weekends or bank holidays.

However, you only have to pay the charge once a day and are then able to drive through the area as much as you like.

In terms of parking, it is best to look out for secure car parks, such as National Car Parks.

Of course, the best thing about renting a car for your visit to London is that it makes it easier to get out of the city and explore further afield.

The capital boasts good motorway links, so if you want to visit some of the other nearby tourist destinations, such as the Cotswolds, Brighton or Stratford-upon-Avon, you will be able to do so.
