Oxford Street hotels from AboutRooms.com

No holiday to London is complete without a stroll along Oxford Street in the heart of the West End.

The busiest part of the capital, this is where you'll find its main shopping area and some of its most famous stores.

Choosing hotels in Oxford Street for your break will also ensure you are within walking distance of the theatre district, many of London's best-known sights and its most popular bars and clubs.

See the sights from Oxford Street hotels

There are a host of top-quality hotels in the Oxford Street area, so you are sure to be able to find accommodation to suit your taste and budget.

Walk out of your hotel's front door and you will be presented with a huge choice of places to see and things to do in the West End.

Trafalgar Square is a popular destination for visitors to London keen to see Nelson's Column, a monument to British naval success in the Napoleonic wars.

It is also where you will find one of the world's best collections of artworks, as the National Gallery has pieces by everyone from Van Gogh and Da Vinci to Constable and Stubbs.

This part of London is also a major draw for people who enjoy film and theatre.

Leicester Square is sometimes referred to as the centre of the UK film industry, as it is where most of the glitzy red carpet premieres take place.

The surrounding area is also where you will find the world-famous West End theatres. There are a number of box offices selling discounted tickets for big-budget musicals and new plays, so you may be able to take in a show without spending too much.

You will be spoiled for choice when it comes to shopping in the West End, with everything from stylish boutiques and high street chains to Covent Garden's market stalls within walking distance of your Oxford Street hotel.

Many of the best-known names in retail are on Piccadilly, Regent Street or Oxford Street and you are sure to want to visit Selfridges during your holiday in London.

Enjoy Hyde Park from hotels in Marble Arch

The hustle and bustle of the shopping streets soon becomes a distant memory once you reach Marble Arch at the end of Oxford Street.

This triumphal arch was originally located outside Buckingham Palace, but was moved to its present spot close to Speakers' Corner in Hyde Park in 1855.

Basing yourself in hotels in Marble Arch for your break will mean you are close to the bright lights of the West End and the tranquillity of Hyde Park, as well as being within walking distance – or a short Tube ride – of the museums and cultural attractions of Kensington.

The Cumberland Hotel is a great base for sightseeing.

Located next to Marble Arch, the four-star hotel has excellent guest rooms, a gym and a restaurant and brasserie run by celebrity chef Gary Rhodes.

Why use AboutRooms.com to book Oxford Street hotels?
