Explore the US capital with flights to Washington DC from Virgin Atlantic

As the capital of the United States, Washington DC is a fascinating holiday destination that has plenty to captivate travellers of all ages and interests.

If you're looking for flights that enable you to explore this amazing city, fly with Virgin Atlantic. Our position as a leading airline and our dedication to ensuring customers can choose from an array of competitively-priced routes means we are in the perfect place to offer fantastic flights to Washington.

Travel to the US in style on a Virgin Atlantic flight

Whether you're going to Washington on business or for a holiday, make sure you book your flight through Virgin Atlantic. In doing so, you'll be able to experience this vibrant, cosmopolitan city in real style and arrive feeling refreshed and ready to see the sights.

We offer daily flights from London Heathrow to Washington's Dulles International Airport with the outward journey taking 8 hours and 40 minutes, with the return lasting 7 hours and 20 minutes. Come to us, you will have a pleasant journey that you'll want to savour every single second of, whichever class of travel you book.

Select Economy and you can watch films and TV shows, as well as play games and listen to music, through your personal seatback TV. With great-tasting meals and drinks, as well as spacious seating and a complimentary amenity kit containing a toothbrush and other travel essentials, you will arrive in Washington feeling refreshed and revitalised.

Upgrade to Premium Economy, meanwhile, and you will have a higher standard of luxury where you can take advantage of dedicated check-in and priority boarding service that enables you to beat the queues at the airport. Once you step onboard your plane, you'll be given a complimentary newspaper and drink upon settling into your chair from a member of our cabin crew. You will have stainless steel cutlery and china plates when your meals are served, enabling you to eat in complete comfort.

Upper Class is the ideal way to travel in style. If you're flying from Heathrow you can arrive at the airport in a limousine where you'll then be whisked through our private security channel so you can check in much faster. This means that you'll have more time to relax in our award-winning clubhouse where you can indulge on luxurious cuisine and watch TV before stepping onboard your flight.

Upon settling down, you will be provided with a complimentary glass of fizz prior to take-off and our friendly cabin staff will be on hand to see to your every need. Travelling in Upper Class also means you can enjoy luxurious fare served on china plates with stainless steel cutlery, while you can socialise with your fellow guests over cocktails at the private bar.

When back in your seat, you can relax on a fully-reclining seat which is the largest offered by any airline. Remember that our Upper Class cabins are the equivalent of business class travel, so if you're travelling to Washington on business you can plug your laptop into your personal electrical socket so that you can work while in the air.

Upon coming back to Heathrow, you can take a hot shower in our revivals lounge and enjoy a cooked breakfast so you can leave the airport and head to your destination feeling refreshed and revitalised.

Take in the sights of America's capital

Whatever flight class you choose to travel to Washington in, once your plane has touched down you'll be presented with an array of interesting landmarks to see.

As the city is the centrepoint of American politics, it is well worth checking out iconic buildings such as the White House and the Capitol. Take a guided tour of the latter, which is where members of the US Congress meet, and you'll be able to see an array of historic artefacts, including items that date back to the American Civil War. The National Museum of American History, meanwhile, displays everything from military memorabilia and modern art to rare coins and film props.

If you're hoping to connect with nature during your trip, head to the National Zoo. As the institution is home to some 2,000 creatures, including pandas and cormorants, there's plenty of scope to see wonderful exotic species.
