Taber Holidays has launched a brand new Viking-themed tour, allowing holidaymakers to follow in their once-feared footsteps.
The trip starts in Copenhagen before moving to Roskilde, a lively and scenic town, which was founded by the Vikings in a strategic position overlooking Roskilde Fjord. It is also home to Roskilde Cathedral where Viking King Harald Bluetooth is buried and the Viking Ship Musuem housing the well-preserved remains of five Viking ships excavated from the Roskilde Fjord.
After an overnight stop in Odense, home place of Hans Christian Andersen, the Viking-themed journey continues to Ribe, Denmark’s oldest town. This was an important trading place during the Viking era and here you will find the Viking Museum and Viking Centre where it is possible to walk around a reconstructed life-size estate.
From here the tour goes on to Århus, Denmark’s second largest city, and one that epitomizes indulgence. Take a stroll through the Botanical Gardens or simply inhale the atmosphere and enjoy the many galleries, shops, restaurants and bars.
Finally, the journey ends back where it began, in the Danish capital. Be sure to visit the National Gallery, which contains artwork from Rubens, Rembrandt and Titian. No trip to Copenhagen is complete without a wander along its bright and colourful harbour.
Price: The March of the Vikingstour costs from £1,120pp and includes flights from London Heathrow to Copenhagen, accommodation with breakfast and car hire with unlimited mileage. Based on two sharing. Departs daily from May 1st to September 30th 2013. Alternative departure airports are available.
