Hire a car for holidays in Milan

written by Dan Casper March 19, 2016

Hire a car for holidays in Milan

Milan is one of the most fashionable cities in the world and if you really want to see it in style, you could think about renting a luxury vehicle for your stay.

Whether you are visiting for business or pleasure, organising car hire in Milan for your break could make getting around a lot easier.

You won't have to worry about getting your head around the maze-like Metro system, fighting the crowds on the trams or attempting to communicate where you would like to go to a taxi driver, as instead you will have your own set of wheels to rely on.

Auto Europe can give you a great deal on hiring a car in Milan – and in other Italian destinations, such as Rome, Venice and Florence, as well.

To find out why we think hiring a car in Milan is such a good idea, read on.

Driving in Milan

Milan is well-known for being the fashion capital of Italy, so while you are here you are almost certain to want to hit the shops. If you go a bit crazy and pick up more items than you can carry, you will be glad you have a car you can stash your goodies in as you drive back to your hotel.

Should you be visiting on business, you may discover that having your own car to rely on allows you to get to meetings and conferences on time, without worrying about navigating your way across the city relying on the public transport system, or forking out for a cab.

When you are driving in Milan, as well as remembering to stay on the right-hand side of the road, there are some other points to be aware of.

Just like in London, there is a congestion charge – known as Eco Pass – in force in Milan, which runs between 07:00 and 19:30 local time on weekdays. If your vehicle is not considered green enough, you will have to pay a fee to enter the zone during this time.

There are ATM-metered roadside parking bays, along with secure car parks if you wish to leave your vehicle somewhere and set out and explore on foot.

Should you head out of the city in your car, be aware that the speed limit in Italy is 31 mph (50 km/h) in built-up areas and 80 mph (130 km/h) on motorways – always look out for road signs so you know the limit for that particular stretch.

Rent a car from Auto Europe

When you come to Auto Europe to rent a car in Milan, we promise you a great deal where you will not be left facing unexpected charges when you come to pay your bill.

For instance, we do not charge cancellation or credit card fees and we often run special offers that mean our customers can get more for their money.

You can choose from a range of makes and models of vehicle, as we have everything from economy and compact cars to SUVs and convertible sports models in our portfolio.

If you're booking a car in Milan you can pick it up from Malpensa or Linate Airports, or Milan Central Train Station – so you won't have to travel far to get behind the wheel.

Hire your vehicle through our website or call us on 0800 358 1229 today.
