Work with children on a volunteering holiday with i-to-i

For some people, there is nothing more exhilarating and exciting than travelling the world. But, if you're looking to make the experience even more enriching, you may want to consider the option to work with children abroad.

There are many things you can choose if you are thinking about doing voluntary work abroad during your adventure, from helping to build schools in underdeveloped communities to assisting with the conservation of the location's environment.

One of the most popular things you can take part in, however, is working with children from underprivileged backgrounds. You may want to assist in schools or try your hand at sports coaching to lift their spirits and give them a good start in life. Alternatively, you may prefer helping out at local orphanages – there is plenty for you to choose from with i-to-i.

So, why not take a look at your options today?

All about working with children abroad

Whether you've always wanted to visit the vibrant city of Rio in Brazil, or have dreamed of helping out with African tribal communities, i-to-i is sure to have something that interests you.

You can give something back by volunteering to look after the youngsters or encourage more children to go to school through a Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) programme. Alternatively, there are opportunities to work closely with AIDS orphans in Kenya's Mombasa or help with community projects in Lima, Peru.

The trips last from one to 12 weeks, meaning that you can offer your assistance and support as part of a longer adventure around the world, or you may prefer to focus your energies on making a difference in the local area for an extended period of time.

Not only will taking part in a voluntary project give you a chance to work abroad, but it will enable you to immerse yourself in a different culture and appreciate the lives of those less fortunate.

It may even inspire you to change your career path and concentrate on working closely with disadvantaged children or families when you return home.

You will no doubt gain a lot from helping children in other countries and will be able to broaden your travelling experience at the same time.

Work with children with i-to-i

At i-to-i you'll find plenty of opportunities to work with children if this is the type of voluntary project you are interested in pursuing.

We offer programmes in more than 20 countries so you will have a range of destinations to choose from, whether you'd like to experience rural life in northern Thailand or want to help out in South Africa.

Every year, many take part in volunteering initiatives with i-to-i and since 1994, thousands have helped underprivileged communities across the world with our programmes.

Our team of specialists have all been backpackers or international volunteers, so can offer you advice should you need help deciding where to go or what to do. You might find it hard choosing whether to give your support to orphans or teach youngsters how to read, but we can help you pick a project that will suit you best and enable you to achieve the experience of a lifetime.

And as we are members of ABTA – The Travel Association and our programmes are ATOL-protected you can rest assured that your trip will go smoothly, so if you're aged between 18 and 80 and want to help by working with children who need it, take a look at the projects we offer.
