‘A new dawn’ for Necker Island, open again after fire

Necker Island has undergone a two-year renovation

The Great House on Necker Island, the private home of Sir Richard Branson and part of the Virgin Limited Edition collection, has completed its renovation after a fire destroyed it in 2011.

Richard Branson himself, as well as Kate Winslet and her two children, were among 20 guests staying at the The Great House on Necker Island when the fire razed the luxurious building to the ground two years ago.

The new Great House has been remodelled on the original Balinese-style design, with the addition of some innovative design twists.

The Great House features eight guestrooms – all with a balcony to enjoy the panoramic views of the Caribbean, the Atlantic and neighbouring islands.

The upper level is home to the Master Suite, a whopping 1,500 square feet, and has been designed for panoramic views from virtually every angle, including a two-person Jacuzzi, a stand-alone outdoor bath and a kitchenette area with a fully-stocked fridge.

Necker Island also features the rooftop Crow’s Nest where you can enjoy the views from a Jacuzzi, an expansive outdoor terrace with hammocks and sofas galore, a cocktail bar and an array of white-sand beaches which you can reach from a zip line.

Sir Richard Branson commented: "Necker Island has been my home for more than 30 years and for me it is the most beautiful place in the world. The brand new Great House is the heart of the island and I'm thrilled with the results. This signals a new dawn for Necker, which I'm very excited about."

Necker Island is located in the British Virgin Islands, a stunning and unspoilt area of the Caribbean and is surrounded by turquoise waters and coral reefs and fringed with beautiful white sandy beaches.
