Cambodia by Khiri Travel
Cambodia is a fascinating country steeped in history. While the recent history has been tragic, with civil war and the auto-genocide of the Pol Pot era, causing the deaths of millions of Cambodians in three years, four months and twenty days. However its early history was much less tragic, with the Cambodian Empire lasting over 600 years from 802 - 1432 and spanning into what it now Laos, Thailand and Vietnam.
The kings of Cambodia in this time left behind amazing sculptures and dazzling Hindu temple complexes, culminating in the spectacular Angkor Wat, lost to jungle for five centuries and now accessible by air or land. This famous five-towered temple is the national symbol of Cambodia and is found among a sprawling complex of over 100 Hindu and Buddhist temples built over centuries and with more yet to be excavated.
