Thursday, 05 Nov 2009 00:00
A city break in Moscow is sure to be a holiday to remember - especially with its wide variety of high-quality hotels.

Whether you're looking for a three-star establishment to suit a modest budget or want to splash out on five-star rooms with every luxury imaginable, Moscow is likely to have the hotel for you.

In terms of mid-priced accommodation, some of the best Moscow hotels with a three-star rating include Cosmos in the north-east part of the city, which is about 20 minutes from the centre of the capital.

The simply-styled, modern-looking hotel is situated close to attractions and venues such as the All-Russia Exhibition Centre, Count Sheremetyev's Palace and the Sokolniki exhibition complex.

Elsewhere, the Pekin hotel is a reasonably priced establishment situated on Triumfalnaya Square, close to the Red Square and its many sights, including St Basil's Cathedral, Lenin's mausoleum, Kazan Cathedral, the State Historical Museum. The Kremlin is also located nearby.

If you're looking for four-star accommodation, a few recommendations include the Marriott Tverskaya, an intimate boutique hotel located on Tverskaya Street near the Red Square and the Kremlin - as well as some wonderful shopping facilities.

The hotel features a glass-roof atrium and a 24-hour fitness gym, while the Gratzi restaurant and the Lobby Bar are on hand to offer refreshment.

Other four-star Moscow accommodation includes that offered by the Katerina City Hotel, which is about 3km from the Red Square and offers bright, colourfully-decorated rooms with a free mini bar - topped up daily - and Swedish-style hospitality.

When it comes to five-star accommodation, Moscow's most luxurious hotels are likely to please.

Just a few examples include the Hilton Leningradskaya - which is housed in one of Moscow's seven famous 'Stalin' towers and is ideally situated for many of the main city centre attractions - and the legendary Hotel Metropol, which boasts a star-studded guest list and lavish Art Nouveau decor.

Alternatively, you could stay in the glitzy Ritz Carlton or the Baltchug Kempinski hotel, which offers wonderful views of the Moskva River and overlooks the Kremlin, the Red Square and Saint Basil's Cathedral.
