The peaceful town of Soller, situated in a fertile bowl-shaped valley in Majorca, is a perfect destination for a relaxing holiday.
With its breathtaking views, beautiful weather and many attractions, it is not hard to see why people go back there year after year.
Unlike the busy town of Palma, Soller is peaceful and an ideal spot to rent a
quality villa in Mallorca to experience the best that the Spanish island has to offer.
Soller is full of history
Steeped in history and culture, the little town is easily accessible from the island's airport and other attractions.
The town is centred around a square called the Placa Constitucio, which has a fountain in the middle and is surrounded by cafes and shops.
Old Islamic streets wind through Soller, with houses that date back to the 14th century. The bank is also an interesting sight and the church of Saint Bartholemew is worth a visit, where you can marvel at its belltower, which dates back to before 1236.
Art fans may want to visit the Picasso museum or explore the work of Joan Miro and those who prefer to be outdoors can follow the many trails that lead into the nearby mountains and countryside, which is famous for its olive trees and orange groves.
On the outskirts of Soller, the Botanical Garden offers an enjoyable day out and those who want to be closer to nature may consider staying in a
farmhouse on their Majorca holiday.
Take a train ride
One of Soller's most famous attractions and a major draw for holidaymakers is the Soller Railway, which has been running since 1912.
If you want to see more of
Majorca , then this is an ideal way to do it, as it travels across the island through the towns of Son Sardinia, Bunyola, Caubet and Santa Maria until it meets Palma.
The train is powered by an electric locomotive - the only one of its kind that is still in use - and its journey over the mountain range through 13 tunnels is an attraction in itself.
Visitors will also be able to travel by train to the nearby Port du Soller, where they can relax on the golden sandy beaches and enjoy the clear blue waters.
