British holidaymakers hate a dirty hotel and think the best hotel experiences are to be found in the US, according to the latest research.
The ebookers survey revealed Spain (17 per cent), France (15 per cent) and Greece (10 per cent) top the table for the worst hotel experiences and 48 per cent state lack of cleanliness as the number one annoyance when staying in a hotel.
Britons also identified comfort of the bed (20 per cent), location (14 per cent) and how helpful the staff is (13 per cent) as some of the most important factors for ensuring an enjoyable hotel stay.
Online travel agent ebookers announced the research as it launches a nationwide search for its own 'Hotel Inspector' to make it easier for its customers to find the best hotels.
This exclusive travel opportunity offers one lucky individual the chance to travel to 10 destinations (as chosen by the public) around the World over three weeks, reviewing hotels as they go.
Each hotel will be rated based on a set of criteria and the Hotel Inspector will be blogging and tweeting about their experiences along the way. The public will be able to follow their adventures, read reviews and look at pictures and videos of each hotel and destination via the Hotel Inspector blog .
The research polled 2,000 UK adults and also revealed that we are a nation of smart bookers, with 29 per cent utilising reviews from other travellers before booking
