High-end hotel group ME by Meliá will launch its flagship hotel, ME London in December 2012.

The hotel is Foster + Partners’ first UK hotel project and the first for which they have designed all of the interiors and exteriors.

The interiors fuse contemporary detailing and classic traditions, with a dramatic monochrome palette.

Situated in Marconi House, the original London home of BBC radio, ME London offers a luxe collection of 157 rooms, including 16 suites, and ultra-luxurious Suite ME and a two floor penthouse in the turret of the building.

Each guest's stay will be orchestrated by the dedicated "Aura Experience Manager", whose job it is to know the city back-to-front and use this knowledge to make the hotel's service truly bespoke.

One of the highlights of the hotel is the rooftop terrace lounge and bar – Radio. Radio, a nod to the building’s past as the home of BBC radio,  is the only rooftop venue in the Strand / Aldwych area to be open from breakfast until late, and boasts panoramic views of London.

Nigel Dancey, Senior Partner, Foster + Partners said : “We took the city as our inspiration: the grand scale of Aldwych, the detailing of neighbouring Marconi House, the views over the West End from the roof gardens and drew on these to give ME London’s guests a unique experience of London. The site is right in the heart of Theatreland and has a fascinating history, most notably as the home of the Gaiety Theatre  – we tried to recapture a little of the spirit and glamour of the stage."

ME by Meliá is a contemporary interpretation of the Meliá experience. Meliá Hotels International was founded in 1956 in Palma de Mallorca (Spain) and is one of the world’s largest resort hotel chains. Room rates at ME London start from £340 p/n ex VAT.
