Plans for a £2billion movie-themed theme park ‘that will rival Disneyland Paris’ have been unveiled.

Developers have been granted a licence from Paramount Pictures to use its name on the resort that will transform the 872-acre brownfield site on the Swanscombe Peninsula in Kent.

The site will be moments from Ebbsfleet International railway station, which is 17 minutes from London and two hours from Paris.

Paramount Park is expected to be themed on major Paramount titles, such as Titanic, Star Trek, Indiana Jones, Tomb Raider, Italian Job and Braveheart and children's favourites Sponge Bob Square Pants and Transformers.

It will also feature hotels, Europe's largest indoor water park, and music venues.

It is believed similar parks are planned for South Korea and the Murcia region of Spain.
