Air New Zealand to create two Hobbit branded aircrafts

Air New Zealand has been named the official airline of Middle Earth with the announcement of two partnerships with the new movies, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There and Back Again.

As part of the partnership, the airline will create two film branded aircrafts which will take passengers to and from the UK and North America, as well as a special in-flight safety video.

Air New Zealand will also be promoting the films through the use of social media and the creation of exclusive competitions and unique fan opportunities.

The Hobbit, like The Lord of the Rings trilogy was filmed in New Zealand and is expected to bring in lots of international tourism to the country. The world premier of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will premier on November 28th 2012 in Wellington.

Air New Zealand General Manager Marketing and Communications, Mike Tod, said, “New Zealand is clearly established as the home of Middle-earth and Air New Zealand will bring the magic to life for travellers. This partnership follows on naturally from the success of Air New Zealand’s relationship with The Lord of the Rings trilogy in raising New Zealand’s profile as an international travel destination”.
