Guests can enjoy luxury treatments at Parador spas
People planning to treat themselves to a luxury getaway this year have been encouraged to consider visiting a Parador spa in Spain.
The range includes properties situated in various parts of the country, from the Pyrenees mountain range in the north, through the mainland to the Canary Islands.
Each complex offers facilities built around hydro spa principles and a choice of treatments reflecting local traditions and using ingredients from the surrounding area.
Travellers can choose from properties such as the newly opened Parador Alcala de Henares, which is situated 26km from Madrid and housed in a 17th-century building that once served as a convent and school.
Treatments on offer include a massage using foam made from aromatic oils and a facial that is carried out to the sound of Tibetan singing bowls.
Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands is home to the Parador de Cruz de Tejeda spa, which is located 35km from Las Palmas and 1,560m above sea level.
As well as a range of spa experiences and luxury services, the complex provides panoramic views of a crater formed by volcanic activity, as well as hills, ravines, cliffs and other impressive natural features.
Other establishments in the range include Parador de la Granja, a converted palace near the historic city of Segovia in the Guadarrama mountains, and Parador de Vielha, which boasts a scenic location in the Aran Valley in the Leridian Pyrenees.
