Jersey's regional tourist board has announced that the island will host its second annual food festival in 2012.

Set to run for just over a week from May 19th to 27th, the event will serve as a showcase for local produce, with a focus on Jersey Royal potatoes, dairy and shellfish.

There will be a range of tours available to visitors, providing a glimpse behind the scenes at attractions such as the Liberation Ale brewery and La Mare wine estate.

Seafood enthusiasts will be able to take part in oyster walks, clam and razorfish 'digs' and turbot tours, while other events will allow guests to meet Michelin-starred chefs and combine local sausages with ciders.

The Jersey Food Festival will culminate in an al fresco food fair and the final judging of the fifth annual Jersey Royal Potato Competition.

Highlighting some of the attractions on offer to gastronomes planning a trip to Jersey, the local tourist board said: "Boasting a delicious range of tasty treats and experiences, from fine dining and Michelin-starred restaurants to the world's finest potatoes fresh from the soil, a visit to the island is a culinary experience in itself."

The destination is home to three establishments that have been recognised with a Michelin star, including Ocean at the Atlantic Hotel and the Bohemia bar and restaurant.
