Luxury travel brands appear to have the best reputation in the industry
Luxury holiday brands are considered the most reputable in the UK travel industry, according to the TNS Corporate Reputation Index 2010.
Conducted by market research company TNS, the study found that luxury holiday provider Kuoni has the highest standing of all travel brands, followed by Virgin Holidays and Thomson TUI.
Eurostar outperformed all of the airlines in the survey, winning fourth place ahead of bmi, which completed the top five.
British Airways received higher scores than bmi for favourability, trustworthiness, business success and service quality, but bmi's final rating was pulled up by its strong overall reputation.
EasyJet performed well in the success category but was found to be somewhat lacking in quality, while Ryanair was also rated as moderately successful but also fared poorly on quality and trustworthiness.
Commenting on the results, Tom Costley, head of TNS RI Travel, said that in general industry brands are performing above average, which he said is "great to see".
However, he added: "There is more work to be done, especially when it comes to dealing with customer service issues.
"Travel companies must try to keep up with the strong reputation of their technology and retail counterparts."
