Jet2.com has added its 41st destination from Leeds Bradford Airport - Yorkshire's first ever direct service to the island of Madeira.
Marking the launch, the crew served Jet2.com managing director Ian Doubtfire and Leeds Bradford's commercial director, Tony Hallwood with a Jet2.com aircraft-shaped Madeira cake... and a Yorkshire cuppa!
Mr Doubtfire commented: "There is a lot more to Madeira than just its delicious cake! With beautiful weather, stunning scenery and so much to see and do, we are confident that the island will really captivate the region's holidaymakers and are delighted to be offering Yorkshire's only direct service to the island."
Flights to are now on sale for summer 2011 from Â£49.99 per person one way including taxes, departing from February 14th 2011 running right through to October 31st 2011.
The new weekly flight follows Jet2.com's recently added Manchester-Madeira route, which was launched earlier this year and reflects expectations that Madeira will be one of the region's most popular destinations for summer 2011.
Holidaymakers can also take advantage of Madeira's capital, the cosmopolitan city of Funchal, which provides a host of shopping opportunities as well as bustling squares and an abundance of great restaurants serving up fantastic local cuisine.
