New holiday ideas in Jersey
Oxford Airport has announced the arrival of the first commercial charter flight in 20 years.
The first scheduled charter flights, to Jersey in the Channel Islands, will start on July 11th when CI Travel Group launches Saturday flights, which will operate through to September 12th .
"We are delighted to welcome these new regular charter flights this month," said Oxford Airport managing director Steve Jones.
"The flights will operate from our newly built oxfordjet business aviation terminal, so passengers will benefit from our state-of-the-art facilities and the comfort and luxury of the beautifully appointed passenger lounge."
Jersey is the most southerly of the Channel Islands, located some 100 miles south of mainland Britain and just 14 miles off the French coast.
The island is renowned for its magnificent sandy beaches, sheltered coves and crystal clear waters. Inland, winding lanes give the visitor the opportunity to appreciate Jersey's unspoilt and carefully protected countryside, home to many species of fauna and flora not found elsewhere in Britain.
The Jersey climate consistently tops the UK resort charts for hours of sunshine and warm temperatures.
The flights will be operated by Plymouth-based Air Southwest using Bombardier Dash 8-300, 50-seat turboprop aircraft with seat only prices from just £150 return, inclusive of all handling and baggage fees.
Flights depart Oxford on Saturdays at 15:20, arriving Jersey at 16:30.
Jersey-Oxford flights commence from July 18th, departing Jersey at 13:45, arriving Oxford at 14:55.
