Wall Steet walking tour

A new waling tour of Wall Street and downtown Manhattan designed and guided by a former Wall Street insider has been launched.

The Financial Crisis Tour is a 90-minute tour will feature the following highlights:

  • A chance to get the inside story; hear first hand accounts on the events of the financial crisis and how certain traders made billion dollar profits while some banks collapsed.
  • Learn about the shadow banking system that the government ignored until it was too late. Gain a deeper understanding of the financial markets and recent financial innovations.
  • See what is it like being a Wall Street Trader; learn about the trading culture and lifestyle.
  • Discover the Financial District's rich history, architecture and trivia. Be inspired by stories of the entrepreneurs who built America's greatest banks. See the skyscraper race within the concrete jungle.
  • Learn what is a Collateralized Debt Obligations (CDO) is? What is a Credit Default Swap (CDS)? And how were they able to destroy financial institutions around the world?
  • Find out what really brought down Bear Stearns, Lehman and AIG? Hear first hand accounts of their final days from an insider.

This is the only tour by a 'toxic asset' trader who was at the front lines of the financial crisis.

As a former vice president at Deutsche Bank, Andrew Luan helped manage a billion dollar trading business and traded structured credit bonds, specifically CDOs, those assets blamed for destroying many financial institutions.

A portion of the tour proceeds will be donated towards to help improve financial literacy.

The tours are $40 (£30) per person and free for children. The organisation also offers free weekly tours to benefit those that cannot afford to pay.

For more information about the tours head over to the Wall Street Experience.
