Ryanair warns passengers with more than one bag
No-frills carrier Ryanair has warned customers it will fine those who attempt to board flights with more than one piece of hand luggage ?30.
In a move unlikely to endear the carrier to passengers, the Irish airline is warning that those with more than one piece of carry on luggage will have to have additional bags checked into the hold.
Ryanair argues passengers have been travelling with an increasing amount of hang luggage and has consequently acted to curtail the trend.
The cheap flights operator is likely to take a tough line on the new policy, stating there will be "no exceptions" to the rule.
The airline's current free cabin baggage allowance is ten kilograms per person which will now be restricted to one bag.
Ryanair argues this was to "ensure fairness to all passengers".
"Passengers are made clearly aware of their cabin allowance at the time of their booking and it is also printed on their online boarding cards," explained spokesmen Stephen McNamara,
Passengers who over-pack and refuse to pay the fine will not be allowed to travel.
