International rail services from Waterloo have been halted this weekend the Eurostar rail company has announced.

Passengers going by Eurostar to Paris, Brussels and Lille will not be able to travel until 17:00 on Saturday 17th March, the company said.

This is due to a "serious line-side fire" at Wandsworth Road station leading to the fire authorities closing all railway lines in the area.

"This means that no Eurostar services can operate in or out of Waterloo International," the company stated.

"Because of the risk of gas cylinders exploding, the fire authorities have stated that it will be 24 hours before they can intervene. There is no alternative route and therefore, Eurostar regrets that it has no alternative but to suspend its entire operation."

Passengers unable to travel can exchange their tickets within two months or get a refund.
