Top 25 things to see and do in UK and Ireland

Thursday, 03 May 2007 13:25
The top 25 things to do and see in Britain and Ireland have been named by Rough Guides today in celebration of the travel publisher's 25th year.

Items on the list for Britain and Ireland range from surfing in Cornwall to getting lost in Birmingham's Balti Triangle, as well as well-known tourist activities such as drinking Guinness in Dublin and punting on the Cam.

The list is the first of a new series of books of top 25s on a variety of destinations and travel experiences.

"When we think of holidays, a lot of people immediately associate this to going abroad. But, believe it or not, you don't actually need to jump on a plane to have an amazing time," explained Mark Ellingham, the series' editor and Rough Guides' founder.

He added the 25s books would be a one-off series of 25 magazine-style publications aiming to capture the excitement of travel, "a collection of ideas, enthusiasm and inspirations".
