January festivals liven up Glasgow

Thursday, 07 Dec 2006 13:00
Traditionally one of the quietest times of year across Europe, January will give visitors to Glasgow plenty to see and do with two festivals taking place in the city.

Holidaymakers who enjoy Celtic folk music will be treated to 19 days of performances across 12 venues in what is one of the biggest winter festivals of its kind in the world.

Highlights include concerts by Phil Cunningham, Clannad, Unusual Suspects with David Munnelly, Jerry Douglas Band, Shooglenifty, Salsa Celtica and the Peatbog Faeries. For more information see www.celticconnections.com

Dine Around Glasgow (January 8th to February 5th 2007) will see the city's restaurants offering set menus of £15 and £25 per person, making eating out during the festival a good value treat.

In addition, Glasgow will also be hosting its annual film festival in February, making the start of next year a great time to see Scotland's biggest city.
