Edinburgh world's scariest place for Halloween

Edinburgh is the world's scariest place according to a new study, beating the likes of Transylvania, notorious witch trial town Salem, and Giza in Egypt.

The poll from Lastminute.com out today finds attractions such as the Edinburgh Vaults, the Ghost Tour and the Edinburgh Dungeon were favourite's among holidaymakers looking for scary experiences.

However, other British locations also fared well for their frightening visitors attractions.

Among the favourites were the Pasaje del Terror in Blackpool, the Isle of Wight's Wax Museum, the London Dungeons and Madame Tussaud's, High Wycombe Caves and Hangman's Hill in Essex.

Among the top overseas attractions are the ghosts of the Serengeti in Kenya, Dublin's Hellfire club in Ireland, Transylvania in Romania, the Witch's Cauldron in Salem, the Haunted House and Skull Kingdom in Florida and the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt.
