Clydeside Expressway closed in Glasgow

Thursday, 25 Sep 2008 11:17
The Clydeside Expressway in the west of Glasgow has been closed, following a fire in a derelict building.

Severe traffic problems are reported following the closure of the eastbound carriageway at the Beith Street junction in Partick.

Much of the surrounding area has now ground to a standstill – including delays on both approaches to the Clyde Tunnel - as emergency vehicles used the road to access the fire.

Govan Road was also reported to be busier than expected as a team of fire-fighters struggled to bring the blaze under control, four hours after it started.

However, trains on the Argyll line were still running as normal.
