Latest CAA stats released on UK airline punctuality

Thursday, 17 Apr 2008 10:16
Airlines in the UK saw an overall improvement in the punctuality of scheduled flights in the last quarter of 2007, except for London Heathrow and London City airports, according to the latest statistics from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

London City's punctuality record fell sharply – by ten per cent – and Heathrow saw a one per cent fall, compared to the overall one per cent improvement in on-time flights.

The average delay increased from five minutes to 20 minutes at London City airport from the same time in 2006.

Charter flights in the UK were less punctual, with on-time flights falling one per cent to 66 per cent.

This poor performance was true at all airports except London Luton airport, which had three per cent more on-time flights.

Travellers flying to Lisbon were the most likely to experience delays, with the lowest on-time performance and the longest average delay among the 75 most popular destinations.

Dubai, Istanbul, Rome (Fiumicino) and Los Angeles International were all destinations that recorded a punctuality performance of less than 55 per cent.
