Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of a body in the undercarriage of a plane landing at Gatwick Airport.

The body was discovered following a routine safety inspection earlier today on board Ghana Airlines flight GU101 from Accra.

The plane landed at approximately 07:00 BST.

Flights at the West Sussex airport are thus far unaffected.

Commenting on the incident an airport spokesperson said: "London Gatwick Airport is working closely with Sussex Police to determine the circumstances leading to this tragic incident."
