Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) has announced the launch of weekly services to India, with the launch of a new Delhi service.
The new route, from London Heathrow, Birmingham and Manchester airports to Delhi, will operate a thrice weekly, and will strengthen SAS’ long haul offering.
In response to the phenomenal growth of India’s tourism industry, and the region’s emergence as a strong business destination, SAS will become the first Scandinavian carrier with flights to Delhi.
SAS’ London, Birmingham and Manchester services via Copenhagen to Delhi will commence on October 27th 2008 and outbound flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The route will be operated by Airbus 340-300 aircraft equipped with SAS’ next generation flatbeds in Business Class.
Commenting on the introduction of the new route, Lars-Ove Filipson, SAS general manager United Kingdom of Ireland, said: "SAS is delighted to be further growing its international network and building on our existing long haul services.
"We are expecting to see large numbers of leisure and business travellers taking advantage of the new route and flying to Delhi to explore India’s magical capital city and rich culture whether for a business trip or holiday break and with our launch fare of £505 there's no better time to travel, being one of the best fares to Delhi right now."
