The bmi regional airlink between Nottingham East Midlands airport and Brussels is to get a 30 per cent boost in capacity as the airline announces larger aircraft will be used for the route.

The switch from an Embraer 135 plane to an Embraer 145 comes into effect immediately and will enable the airline to carry an extra 2,000 passengers in July and August.

Flights from Nottingham to the Belgian capital link to flights with bmi's Star Alliance partners, including SAS, Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines.

Nottingham East Midlands airport handled 395,136 passengers in February, nearly 20 per cent more than the same time in 2007.
