The success of 2007's Norwichristmas has allowed the organisers to extend the running time for 2008's event.

This year the celebration will run from December 3rd to the 14th, with a team of representatives from many different organisations working together to build on 2007's success.

The craft stalls and continental market will again be key features, located outside the Forum and City Hall, though this year the focus will be more on seasonal fare.

"We learnt a lot last year and feedback from traders and visitors was very encouraging," enthused the Forum Trust's Mark Hand.

"Last year, Norwichristmas was held in the centre of Norwich and mainly during shopping hours. As a result of people approaching us, 2008’s event will cover more of Norwich, including Dragon Hall and Elm Hill and we’re happy to talk to anyone else who’s interested in getting involved.

"We are also working on ways to include the vibrant evening culture of Norwich and aim to make this year’s event a showcase for all that’s best about Norwich at Christmas."

Shop owners have been quick to welcome the news of the event's return.

Chapelfield's Sophie Hallett said: "While Norwichristmas was on, we noticed more visitors coming into the centre than before and after the event. We were happy to be involved last year and keen to play our part to help make this year’s event a success."

"The second event will reflect what we’ve learned and will help attract visitors from throughout the county and beyond, to what is on course to become a major event in the city’s Calendar," added Mark Hand.
