CAA advice for Zoom passengers

The UK's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued advice to customers of transatlantic low-cost carrier
Zoom Airlines, which has gone into administration today.
The aviation regulator is advising UK customers who were due to fly home to make alternative arrangements with other airlines.
Around 4,500 UK passengers are currently abroad and approximately 60,000 passengers have forward bookings with Zoom Airlines and its sister Canadian airline, according to the CAA.
Unfortunately the CAA has confirmed that its ATOL scheme does not cover customers who book flights directly with airlines such as Zoom.
Customers with forward bookings who booked using a credit card are advised to contact their credit card company about refunds.
Where only part of the journey has been completed, customers who paid by debit or charge card can still contact their card company to apply for a full or partial refund.
Customers with travel insurance should check their policy to see whether any airline insolvency cover was provided.
For passengers who have booked Zoom flights through tour operators the CAA recommends contacting the travel agent or holiday company about alternative travel arrangements.
Non-UK customers are advised to contact their home country's aviation/consumer protection organisation or their credit card company for advice and information about whether they are able to obtain refunds or assistance.
