Brazil favourite destination for volunteering

Monday, 11 Jun 2007 09:47
Brazil is the favourite destination for volunteering abroad, new research shows.

An online survey by Cheapflights.co.uk reveals Brazil got 37 per cent of the vote - with volunteers keen on helping abandoned street children with Brazil Youth Outreach.

In second place was Tanzania, where volunteers wanted to work on raising AIDS awareness.

This was followed by the USA's Habitat for Humanity project, which is focused on rebuilding homes damaged by Hurricane Katrina.

Volunteering at Mother Teresa's hospice in India was the fourth most popular, and in fifth place was the Yaounde Deaf School in Cameroon, visited by Princess Diana in 1990.
