New Zermatt train links for skiers

Friday, 26 Oct 2007 13:11
From December skiers and boarders on their way to the Swiss resorts of Zermatt and Saas Fee will be able to travel by train from Zurich airport, instead of Geneva.

Lotschberg Base Tunnel, the biggest European rail project since the Channel Tunnel, will be open for the new ski season from the December 9th 2007 and will be able to transport holidaymakers to the car-free resort of Zermatt in three and a half hours.

More scheduled flights to Zurich will mean greater availability and lower prices for travellers to Switzerland and with the last train leaving Zurich around eight in the evening, more flexibility.

Ski Solutions tailor-made packages to hotels in Zermatt & Saas Fee start from £525 per person, staying in three star accommodation. Five star accommodation is available from £1020 per person.

Prices are based on scheduled flights from London, 2nd class rail transfers & seven nights' half board accommodation.
