US movie-themed road trip

Thursday, 03 Jul 2008 13:14
A 30,000 mile road trip around North America visiting memorable locations from hit 80s movies has been entertainingly described in a new travel book.

Chasing the Eighties is written by 29-year-old Spencer Austin, who indulged in the three-month nostalgia-fest with friends Tom and Luke.

Having breakfast with Mad Murdoch from the A-Team, beers with Chunk from the Goonies and omelettes with Louis Gosset Jr were only the beginning of their adventures.

They also spent the night at the barracks featured in An Officer and a Gentlemen, played football against a vampire hunter from The Lost Boys and recreated the legendary 'lake lift' scene from Dirty Dancing.

Visits to over 100 memorable locations from hit movies such as Stand By Me and Mystic Pizza are described in a quirky style that explores the heart of the 80s.

See the Chasing the Eighties website for photos and video clips from interviews with stars and the recreation of famous movie scenes.

The book is due to be released on September 10th.
