Celebrity Cruises unveils Alaska itineraries

Wednesday, 03 May 2006 09:37
A cruise is a great way to see the wonders of Alaska
A trio of Celebrity Cruises' ships will be returning to Alaska in 2007, for voyages ranging between seven and 14 nights.

Summit, Infinity and Mercury will head to Alaska between May and September, offering their passengers a chance to sample the land's 5,000 glaciers, four mountain ranges and three million lakes.

Infinity will begin its Alaska season with a 13-night west coast voyage departing San Francisco and concluding in Vancouver.

From late May until early September it will offer seven-night Hubbard Glacier cruises, starting and finishing in Vancouver, and with visits to the town of Ketchikan, Alaska's capital city Juneau and Icy Strait Point, a village that has been home to the Huna Tlingit Natives for thousands of years.

Infinity will end its 2007 Alaska season with a 13-night cruise from Vancouver, departing September 16th for San Francisco, via the Hubbard Glacier.

Summit will spend its Alaska season by alternating seven-night Northbound Alaska cruises departing from Vancouver, with seven-night Southbound Alaska cruises departing from Seward, Alaska.

Destinations on both itineraries include Juneau, Icy Strait Point and Ketchikan, as well as the gold rush town of Skagway.

Summit opens its Alaska season with a 13-night cruise from Los Angeles to Vancouver, and ends it with a 14-night cruise from Vancouver to San Diego.

Mercury, meanwhile, will precede the 2007 Alaska season with a cruise taking in some of the west coast's best known winemakers, with calls at Monterey in California, Astoria in Oregon, Seattle in Washington, and Victoria in British Columbia.

It will then spend the months between May and September on roundtrip seven-night cruises to the Hubbard Glacier from Seattle.

Cruise-goers can combine their time aboard Summit with one of 20 pre or post cruise tours ranging from three to six nights.

The tours offer activities in destinations such as the historic gold rush town of Fairbanks and the Denali National Park, home to Mount McKinley.

Guests on Infinity’s Hubbard Glacier cruises have the option of five escorted tours of the mountains of Canada, including a five-night Canadian Rockies tour which visits Vancouver, Calgary, Kamloops and Banff.
