This year not only marks the inauguration of the 44th US president, Barack Obama, but also celebrates the 200th anniversary of the birth of his role model, Abraham Lincoln.
Barack Obama has used Abraham Lincoln as inspiration throughout his presidential campaign and even asked to use Lincoln’s bible for the swearing-in ceremony.
To celebrate, Lincoln’s home state of Kentucky is planning a year of celebrations and events.
Beginning on February 12th 2009, Kentucky will host a range of bicentennial activities commemorating the birth of the man many consider to be the greatest leader in American history.
Visitors can follow the Lincoln Heritage Trail and discover Lincoln’s family experiences, visit his childhood home and learn about his life and inspiration at museum exhibitions.
Full details of the celebrations taking place; including plays, concerts, lectures, musicals, parties and operas, are available at
KYLincoln.
To celebrate America As You Like It is also offering a seven-night Kentucky Traditions itinerary prices from £715 per person including return flights, seven-nights’ accommodation and car hire.
Price is based on two people traveling together. To book, visit
