City breaks in Strasbourg
The city of Strasbourg is preparing to host the first World of Beer Festival to be held in Europe – the perfect excuse for a city break in the Alsace capital.
The festival is a must in for all beer drinking aficionados; dedicated to traditional beers from around the world with literally hundreds of different brews on show.
The Strasbourg event takes place between October 16th-18th and is a development of the famous Mondial de la Bière which has been held in Canada for the past 16 years.
The organisers claim that traditional beer brewing is making an extraordinary comeback and that Strasbourg as France’s 'Capital of Beer' is the ideal place to hold this first European event. The region of Alsace as a whole is also well known for its beers and it is situated close to two big beer producing countries, Germany and Belgium.
In addition to the beer tasting competitions there will be exhibitions and demonstrations covering ingredients and brewing techniques as well as conference presentations for both the public and professionals.
