New luxury holidays touring tea plantations in India have been launched, offering holidaymakers two weeks to see one of the country's oldest tea estates.
The History of Tea holiday from Indus Tours begins in Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) before moving on to the Glenburn Tea Estate in the foothills of Darjeeling.
Accommodation is in restored plantation workers' bungalows, where holidaymakers will be surrounded by 1,600 acres of forest, hills and valleys.
As well as drinking lots of tea, visitors can learn about cultivating, picking and blending tea.
The tour is escorted by ornithologist and photographer Colonel John Swanston, who has also experience of exploring the Himalayan region.
The trip costs £2250 per person based on two sharing, including international flights with British Airways, half-board accommodation, and all transport, sightseeing arrangements and the services of a guide.
