New India and Morocco photo-adventure holidays

Monday, 13 Aug 2007 10:40
Exploring exotic destinations and taking photos has long been a fantastic combination.

With this in mind adventure holiday specialist Intrepid Travel has launched a new range of photography-focused active holidays to India and Morocco with a professional travel photographer.

The active holidays are aimed at budding photographers with some experience, and take in some of the most-pictured sights at the destination, as well as some hard-to-reach less visited locations.

The new 16-day Morocco trip starts in Casablanca before going on to Fez and Marrakech, giving holidaymakers a chance to capture the towering mosques, mountains, gorges, coastline and the Sahara Desert.

The trip departs October 1st 2007 and costs £1,380 plus a local payment of €200 for all transfers, photo tuition, guided sightseeing, accommodation and most meals, but not international flights.

Similarly, the Intrepid Travel India photo-trip visits the Delhi, the Taj Mahal, Orchha, Bodh Gaya, the Sonepur Cattle Fair, Varanasi and Kolkata for 15 days, beginning on November 15th 2007.

"India through the Lens takes in some of my most favourite places in India: the incomparable majesty of the Taj Mahal, the hauntingly ancient spirituality of Varanasi, the ramshackle charm of Kolkata and Bodh Gaya - a little piece of Tibet in the middle of India," commented Steve Davey, the photographer leading the new trips.

"Most amazingly, we will visit the Sonepur Mela. Billed as the world's largest livestock fair, it is also famous for being the largest second-hand elephant market in the world and is hardly visited by westerners at all. This is a rare chance to see one of the great hidden gems of Asia and to come back with some stunning pictures."

The India active holiday costs £1,345, plus a 10,000 rupee local payment, not including flights.

Forthcoming photography active holidays from Intrepid Travel include trip to Indochina, Japan, Thailand, and China.

  • Hello, I have just seen your website. The reason for this e mail is that my family own a house in eastern Punjab near the Himalayan foothills. In fact the town is nearer to Himachal Pradesh than it is to Amritsar. We are turning it into a guesthouse. This is a link to it: http://www.travel-library.com/b&b/asia/india/mahilpur/
Mahilpur is a small town - population 10-12,000. It is on the footsteps of rural India and not too far from the Kangra Valley and its numerous temples. There are lots of temples locally both Sikh and Hindu. The house is on the way to the Himalayas. It is en route to Shimla, Anandpur Sahib (the birthplace of Sikhism). There are plenty of photo ops of rural India. If you are interested please e mail me. Regards,
    Harjinder Powar (London)
