If you are looking for an active holiday in the Middle East or North Africa, Bales Worldwide has several new trips for 2008.

A new luxury ten-day walking holiday in Jordan visiting the city of Petra is available from March 2008, including a four-day camping trek, the services of porters and guides and all camping equipment.

Holidaymakers are advised their fitness levels should be up to walks around seven hours a day. Prices start from £1,595 per person.

There are also expanded options for Bales' Nile cruise holidays in Egypt. The company has added a third dahabbiya, a 19th-century wooden sailing boat, to its operation.

The 12-day luxury Nile cruise holiday includes seven days on the colonial-style boats along with three days in Cairo. The route stops at private moorings and less-visited Nile islands are also on the itinerary. Prices start from £1599 per person.

There are also more options for holidays in the Red Sea, including stays at the less busy and developed resort of El Quseir, around 100 miles south of Hurghada. The resort is ideal for diving holidays, as well as offering desert jeep safari excursions.
