The country is set to go travel mad as nine out of ten Brits still have holiday to take, and 40 per cent have ten or more days left to take before the year end.
According to research by More Than, a fifth of workers still intend to go on a break before December 31st, with a quarter of a million likely to go to destinations they would not usually choose.
Longer haul destinations are also set to soar in popularity as four million Brits say they are willing to pay more to find the sun.
Based on figures for last year, most sun-seekers will be heading to Spain, France and Italy, but the number of Brits visiting the southern hemisphere since 2000 has been rising fast.
Top of the table is South Africa, getting 83 per cent more holidaymakers over the last six years, followed by New Zealand (78 per cent) and Australia (39 per cent).
