Thursday, 05 Jan 2006 09:51
Faro is the gateway to the Algarve, Portugal
easyJet plans to operate cheap flights on five new routes from the UK to Europe.

Portugal is the destination for two of the new routes, with the airline planning to operate daily flights from London Luton to Lisbon and from Liverpool to Faro for holidays in the Algarve.

The three other new routes will fly daily from Liverpool to Krakow in Poland, Mahon in Menorca, and Marseille in France.

The new UK flights are part of a wider expansion that will see the low-fares airline add a total of 14 routes across its European network.

It is also adding new flights to destinations in Europe from bases in Lisbon, Malaga and Milan.

easyJet chief executive Andrew Harrison expects 35 million passengers to use easyJet flights in 2006.

He added: "Fourteen new routes for the coming summer is just the beginning of our plans for expansion during 2006, which will be an exciting year for easyJet – look out for announcements about more new routes to more destinations over the coming months."
