New direct flights to Norway's fjords

Wednesday, 11 Apr 2007 17:13
Scandinavian airline SAS will be launching new direct flights to Alesund in northern Norway from London Gatwick.

The new twice-weekly route will begin on June 1st, with departures set for Fridays and Mondays.

Alesund is ideal for holidaymakers looking to explore Norway's best-known fjords and landscapes, including Geirangerfjord, Hjørungfjord and the Trollstigen Road.

The coastal city is also known for its art nouveau architecture, which was built following a fire in the early 20th century when many of the wooden buildings in Alesund were destroyed.
